The movie, as the Indian audience is taking, is not a comic drama but a bit more. It is a chronic saga of the Indian women who have been suffering from male dominated system not even in India but abroad too since long times. Indian males, under duress from their family cultures or their own egos, marry Indian girls but steer clear from accompanying them while socializing with their outer world especially the foreign people. They feel their brides are not enough good looking and eloquent in communicating in English.So ridiculed by this phobia, heroine Katrina Kaifs mother, although not openly, prepares her England brought-up and bred daughter Katrina against this Achilles' heel so that anyone cannot blemish her daughter of veneers of civilization.

The director fully exploited the talent of Rishi Kapoor and Akshay Kumar by making them speak chaste Punjabi while relishing Punjabi village life style laced with feasts made of clarified ghee and eating Makhan (unmarked butter) directly from the pot of Lassi (butter milk).

A village lad Akshay Kumar, the hero of the film falls in love with Katrina Kaif and dreams of marrying and honeymooning with her. Akshay did full justice to his role. He, although in dreams, enjoys Katrinas august and scented company while making love with her on the narrow lanes of his Punjabi village, bulleting his bike, amidst sugarcane tracts, atop caned trolley-tractors et al.

Suddenly Rishi Kapoor, Katrinas father settles her marriage with Akshay Kumar and threatens her to obey his will. Katrina muzzled and between the devil and deep sea, plays a trick of marrying Akshay and repairs to London without registration of her marriage in the court of law. On reaching England she refuses to accept the pseudo marriage. Broken but composed Akshay Kumar keeps himself low-profile and wins the race slowly and steady without any trick but with a sense of self-sacrificing for his beloved.

The best thing about the foreign marriage system is that any of the both partners can take U-turn even in the nick of the hour. But our Indian system is yoked by the tradition of not breaking the relation once tied.
